Andrew Antoniak

12.10.2010

It is with great sadness that we report the sudden loss of our partner and friend Andrew Antoniak who passed away aged 61 on the 12th August 2010.

Andrew joined Shacklocks in 1974 having spent the first part of his articles of clerkship with Robinsons Solicitors in Ilkeston. Andrew moved to Shacklocks before qualification and having qualified soon established himself as a well-respected litigation solicitor, a reputation he continued to enjoy throughout the whole of his career. After a few years Andrew became a partner in the firm and remained in that role until his sad and untimely passing.

Throughout his career Andrew developed a number of areas of specialisation of which we were all rightly proud. Andrew was one of the earlier practitioners in the field of professional negligence and assisted numerous clients in seeking redress when they had been let down by others. He also took a leading role in the firm's successful work in seeking and obtaining restitution during the pensions mis-selling review. Andrew maintained an interest in these areas and was also very keen on the use and implementation of IT within the firm.

As a partner, Andrew was always kind, approachable and was held in the highest regard by all of us at Shacklocks who enjoyed spending time with him. He had a great sense of fun and could be mischievous when appropriate.

It is a measure of our affection for him that the colleagues attending his funeral spanned the entire length of his career with us.

Our thoughts are with Jeanette his widow and his three children and grandchildren and their own loved ones. We have lost a colleague and a friend and will all miss Andrew. We think of the time we spent with him with great fondness and will all treasure the memories that we hold of Andrew in the years to come.
