Business and Marriage Breakdown

Our client was a businessman who had set up a business with other family members shortly before his marriage broke down.

His wife was keen to claim against the business as well as retain as many of the capital assets of the marriage for the benefit of the children within the subsequent divorce proceedings. The business was thriving and our client was keen to preserve his interest intact not least because it provided him with an income and enabled him to support his children to a high level but also because any change to the business would impact on other family members too.

We were able to assist our client in reaching an agreement with his wife without damaging his business and without the need for costly court proceedings or an expert valuation of his company as we were able to persuade the wife’s solicitors that the accountants estimate was sufficient. The client was able to preserve his business assets fully knowing that he would reap the benefits in the future for the long hours and hard work he was prepared to put in.
